Also putting my hand up to being v inspired by the evening before prep! part of the experience of it. I had to miss last week's for good reason but man I was sad ... looking forward to this week already. agree that early morning dream time is so fertile, so much closer to the semi-processed parts.
This reframing of the dark is so necessary...reminding me not to run from it, reminding me also of the comfort and wonder of little rituals; the matchbox, the mug, the soft clothes...going to lean more into my own little rituals and embrace the darkness as we edge towards the solstice x
Yas! I was part of a wonderful conversation the other day about just this. Any fear of the dark reframed through ritual. A sense, too, that we spend a hell of a lot of time shying away from darkness in all its forms, when the best thing we can do is lean in. Face up to it.
Love this! There's something about being the only one awake and doing something (ideally creative) in the early morning that gives me a jolt of adrenaline
Totally, Becky. Being the only one up feels so magical actually. It's never me late at night so early in the morning it must be. I've never worked well in the evenings/ at night time anyway...
Thanks, Claire. I was thinking about our conversation and the difference between summer and winter – the need to welcome changes in our sleep and rest needs as the nights are long. One morning a week, though, feels like something I should commit to!
Love the ritual the night before - I’ve been more of a rushing downstairs at 5:55 and fumbling in the dark. There’s definitely a different way of accessing the words first thing after waking.
Loved reading this. A lot of it resonates as I am learning to befriend the dark in so many aspects of the word. Thank you for sharing your practice. ✨

This was a beautiful read Lindsay… really gorgeous. Looking forward to Wed. 🕯️

But by hook or by crook, we've been there! So lovely to see familiar names and faces sharing that hour together too.x
What a beautiful scene, laying out your mise en place the night before!
Excellent use of mise en place, friend!😍
Love reading about what’s been sparking for you Lindsay. And the prep the night before, too. Makes it more of a ritual and therefore special … ❤️
Thanks to you for offering this time, Layla. It's been such a gift xx
Oh I'm most creative in the dark early hours as well, when my inner critic hasn't woken up yet and I don't "have to" do anything!
Agree with Layla. That 'have' voice rings so loudly in the day, doesn't it?
So interesting about the ‘have to’ part Sophie - I feel the same, pressure is off when the world is still sleeping x
