Hi friends,
Normal service resumes this coming Sunday, but before then I can’t wait to meet with you tomorrow evening (Thursday 22nd August 8-9pm BST) for our seasonal journaling session for late summer.
The Zoom link is below the paywall and if you’ve not been to one of these cosy sessions before (v much a candles lit, hot drinks and pjs affair) you’d be most welcome. I run them around six times a year and create prompts based on the current micro season (adapted from the Japanese tradition in Nature’s Calendar: The British Year in 72 Seasons), a seasonal reading, a nature oracle card and – this time – our reflections on the full Sturgeon supermoon just past because it was wild.
If you’re a free subscriber, then you’d be most welcome to unlock this post and join us, which should come up as an option below if you’ve not used it already. It’s a lovely way to meet up with other Members and suss out whether my other courses might be your thing. There’s lots coming up in the next couple of months with Memoir in a Month kicking off in a fortnight and Writing for Better Mental and Physical Health based on the Pennebaker Method running again in October. All details about these are in this post from a couple of weeks back (and there’s one spot left on MiaM just saying:
Meanwhile, I’m writing about the meaning of wallpaper for this Sunday’s post and it turns out I’ve got lots to say. Drop your favourite literary wallpaper references in the comments, if you please. And for the record, I’m all over Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper…
And for listeners, the audio excerpts of my memoir, Held in Mind, will be back next Wednesday. The lovely
has been following along and left me this wee gem in a Note today (thank you!):I'm so enjoying (slowly) listening along to Lindsay Johnstone’s excerpted memoir, beautifully read by Lindsay. I love the interweaving of a stumbled-across archive of family letters with Lindsay's sensitive untangling of her own personal legacy from this family, through therapy.
And now for that Zoom link…
